Broccoli Cheddar Bites

Broccoli Cheddar Bites make for the perfect appetizer or snack for adults and a wonderful meal for kids! These bites are simple to make with just a few ingredients and packed with goodness.

If you have a picky eater at home, these cheesy bites are worth giving a try! I've had lots of success with these, both at home with my own toddler and at work, when I did cooking classes with families with young children. Baking them in mini-muffin pans makes cooking a fun experience for kids, so its a great recipe to try out with your children and get them involved in the kitchen! These delicious bites are a great food to introduce to your baby if you experimenting with baby-led weaning also.


Makes 25 bites


  • 1 large broccoli head

  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar

  • 1/2 cup of bread crumbs

  • 4 eggs, beaten

  • 3/4 tsp oregano

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp dried basil

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Olive oil for coating muffin pans


  1. Add 1- inch of water to a pot and bring to a boil. Place broccoli florets in a steamer basket and put on the pot with water. Steam broccoli until tender. Drain broccoli florets and rinse with cold water. Finely chop broccoli florets.

  2. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  3. Transfer chopped broccoli to a large bowl and add remaining ingredients: shredded cheddar, bread crumbs, eggs, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well.

  4. Grease mini muffin pans with olive oil and distribute mixture into muffin pan wells.

  5. Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes until top is lightly browned. Enjoy!
