Smokey Paprika Roasted Chickpeas

Oven Roasted Chickpeas are so delicious, versatile and a nutrition powerhouse. These crunchy chickpeas are marinated with olive oil, sea salt and paprika!

Chickpeas are a great vegetarian protein source and high in fiber . They can be eaten alone as the ultimate snack or as a great addition to salads, wraps, sandwiches, stews and as soup toppings.

Nutrition Benefits of Chickpeas

Chickpeas provide protein, fibre, Iron, zinc, folate, potassium, phosphorous and magnesium.

Studies have shown an association between the consumption of pulses and a reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes with their low glycemic index as well as heart disease. Legumes are high in soluble fibre which can help with regulating cholesterol levels!


Servings - 2


  • 2 cups of cooked chickpeas

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

  • 1 tsp of paprika powder

  • 1 tsp of sea salt

  • Optional - you can also add pepper, garlic powder, curry.


  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.

  2. Place chickpeas on a paper towel and pat until completely dry.

  3. Remove any loose skins.

  4. Transfer chickpeas to a baking sheet lined with parchmnet paper. Make sure chickpeas are not overcrowded on sheet and are a single layer.

  5. Roast for 15 minutes.

  6. Remove chickpeas from oven. Combine olive oil, sea salt and paprika in a bowl. Add chickpeas and toss well.

  7. Bake chickpeas with spices for another 15 minutes until they are crispy and golden (if you like them extra crunchy you can bake for another 10-15 minutes)

  8. Enjoy!

**Tip: To get extra crunchy chickpeas, let chickpeas sit in oven for an extra 30 minutes to cool while oven door is slighlty ajar.
